Real Madrid Blocks Chelsea's Left Back Pursuit

Chelsea is actively searching for a new left back following the departure of Marc Cucurella. Their pursuit has encountered a significant obstacle as Real Madrid has declared Álvaro Carreras "untouchable," reportedly unwilling to consider selling him this summer.

Real Madrid acquired Carreras last summer for $58.42 million (€50 million) on a six-year contract. The club views him as a key player, especially with potential exits from Ferland Mendy and Fran García, and intends to keep him for depth or to compete for the starting left back role.

With Carreras unavailable, Chelsea must pivot to other options. Youngster Jorrel Hato is the only recognized left back currently at the disposal of Xabi Alonso, and the recent signing Denner Evangelista is considered a long-term prospect. Lewis Hall's return seems unlikely, and Maxi Araújo is another player being considered for the wing-back position.
