Clearlake Capital Takes Full Control of Chelsea FC

Clearlake Capital has assumed full control of Chelsea Football Club following the sale of ownership stakes by Todd Boehly and Mark Walter. The private equity firm, which previously held a majority share of 61.5% since May 2022, has now acquired the remaining interests. Hansjorg Wyss is set to remain an important stakeholder and partner within the ownership group.

Under the joint ownership, significant investments were made in both the men's and women's squads, training facilities at Cobham, and player support resources. Boehly has stepped down as chairman, with Clearlake intending to maintain the current strategic direction and pursue the ownership group's ambitions. The club assures that day-to-day operations, leadership, and strategy will remain unchanged.
