Chris O'Leary has been appointed as the new defensive coordinator for the Los Angeles Chargers. This marks O'Leary's return to the team, as he previously served as the safeties coach during the 2024 season under head coach Jim Harbaugh.
O'Leary steps into the role previously held by Jesse Minter, who departed to become the head coach of the Baltimore Ravens earlier this month. The Chargers have also recently brought in Mike McDaniel as their offensive coordinator.
Before his return to the Chargers, O'Leary spent the most recent season as the defensive coordinator at Western Michigan. Under his guidance, the Broncos achieved a 10-4 record, won the Mid-American Conference title, and ranked second in scoring defense within the MAC and ninth nationally.
