In 2026, Tampa Bay Rays outfielder Chandler Simpson has defied preseason expectations, evolving into a crucial player for the playoff-contending team. Initially dismissed due to his speed-only skillset and defensive shortcomings, Simpson has undergone a significant transformation. His defensive metrics have seen a remarkable improvement, now boasting 8 Defensive Runs Saved, a stark contrast to his previous struggles. This enhanced defensive capability has revitalized the team's outfield. While Simpson's offensive statistics, including batting average and on-base percentage, remain largely consistent with the previous season, his role has been amplified.
