Century Tennis Rising: Panthers Eye Future Dominance
29 Sep
Summary
- Mayo girls tennis has dominated with three state titles.
- Century's underclassmen anticipate future success.
- Mayo's top seniors graduate, opening doors for rivals.
Mayo's girls tennis team has established a dynasty, securing three Class 3A team state championships in recent years. However, their dominance is expected to wane as their top-ranked seniors, including the state champion, are set to graduate and pursue college tennis.
This shift presents an opportunity for Century, a team rich in underclassmen talent. Currently ranked No. 6 in Class 3A and recently defeated by Mayo, Century anticipates a future where they will be the team to beat in their section.
Century's promising roster includes a standout freshman and strong doubles players, with many underclassmen expected to develop further. Coach Maes foresees his team being the favorite in Section 1-3A for the next several years.
While Mayo relishes its current No. 1 ranking and the fun that comes with it, the future looks bright for Century, as they prepare for their turn at the top in the coming seasons.
