In a concerning incident, former NBA star and Boston Celtics legend Paul Pierce was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence in Los Angeles on October 7, 2022. According to the California Highway Patrol (CHP), officers responded to a multi-vehicle crash on US Highway 101 around 10:38 PM that night.
As they were investigating the crash and reopening the lanes, officers spotted a Range Rover SUV stopped in the traffic lanes. Upon approaching the vehicle, they found Pierce asleep at the wheel. The CHP spokesperson stated that officers "noted signs of alcohol impairment" and proceeded to conduct a DUI investigation, leading to Pierce's arrest.
The 47-year-old Hall of Famer, who spent the majority of his 19-year NBA career with the Celtics, was booked at the Central Los Angeles Area office. The CHP has indicated that they will present the case to the Los Angeles City Attorney's office for review.
