19 Apr
Summary
- Jordan Walsh defends Tyrese Maxey effectively.
- Walsh limits Maxey to 1-10 shooting in matchups.
- Team defense is crucial to slowing Sixers' offense.
Jordan Walsh has become a vital defensive player for the Boston Celtics, specifically tasked with guarding Tyrese Maxey of the Philadelphia 76ers. Walsh's quickness and length have proven effective, as NBA tracking data shows he limited Maxey to 1-of-10 shooting from the field in past games.
Walsh has been studying film and receiving guidance from teammates to develop strategies for disrupting Maxey's offensive flow. His goal is to force Maxey into less favorable options and disrupt his preferred moves.
However, slowing Maxey is recognized as a team-wide challenge. Players like Neemias Queta are crucial for coordinating the defense, making crucial decisions, and providing rim protection. The Celtics understand that a cohesive defensive effort, involving switches and help, will be necessary to contain the Sixers' offense effectively.
