Celtic Eyes Hogh: Champion League Star Wanted

Celtic has emerged as a leading contender to sign Bodo/Glimt striker Kasper Hogh this summer, with the club reportedly holding an edge over Leeds United. Hogh's profile has been significantly elevated by his exceptional performance in the Champions League this season, where he scored six goals and provided three assists in 13 appearances.

His success has not only boosted his individual reputation but also that of Bodo/Glimt, who became the first Norwegian club to reach the Champions League knockout stages. This European run complicates any potential bargain deal, with Hogh's market value now expected to have doubled or even tripled from the £6-10 million range estimated in January.

The primary draw for Hogh appears to be continued Champions League football, a prospect Celtic can offer if they qualify for next season. This factor puts Leeds at a disadvantage, while Celtic are also undergoing a significant summer rebuild. Reinforcements up front are a priority, and the club may also sell Johnny Kenny.

Both Celtic and Norwich City showed interest in Hogh in January. However, Celtic pursued other options, signing Junior Adamu and Tomas Cvancara on loan. Their combined output has been limited, refocusing attention on Hogh for the upcoming transfer window. Bodo/Glimt's management has indicated they are not under pressure to sell but would consider offers if they are substantial and align with the player's desires.
