Cavs' Wild 28-Year Run: Elite or Eliminated
7 Apr
Summary
- Cavs secure top-four seed for 28th consecutive year.
- Team either ranks in top four or misses playoffs entirely.
- Streak includes LeBron James' eras and Donovan Mitchell's tenure.
The Cleveland Cavaliers have solidified a unique and enduring playoff seeding streak, now spanning 28 years. For each of these seasons, the team has either secured a top-four position in the Eastern Conference or failed to qualify for the playoffs.
This unusual pattern means the Cavaliers have not landed as a No. 5, 6, 7, or 8 seed in over 25 years. The team recently clinched a top-four seed, ensuring the continuation of this remarkable run.
The streak's consistency can be attributed to historical team performance, including periods with LeBron James and the current era featuring Donovan Mitchell. Despite consistent regular-season success, the Cavaliers aim to advance further in the postseason.
