Ruud Faces Tough Shanghai Test vs. Bu Yunchaokete
10 Oct
Summary
- Casper Ruud seeks to regain winning form at the Shanghai Masters.
- Bu Yunchaokete reached semifinals at Hangzhou Open and China Open.
- Ruud previously defeated Bu Yunchaokete at the 2024 US Open.
Casper Ruud is competing in the Shanghai Masters, aiming to rebound after a withdrawal from the US Open due to a back injury and a subsequent early exit at the Japan Open. Despite these setbacks, Ruud played a role in Team Europe's Laver Cup victory.
Meanwhile, Bu Yunchaokete has been in solid form during the Asian swing, reaching the semifinals of the Hangzhou Open and advancing to the second round of the China Open. The 24-year-old wildcard secured a victory in his opening match at the Shanghai Masters, defeating Luca Van Assche.
This upcoming match will be the second ATP Tour encounter between Ruud and Bu. Ruud previously defeated Bu in straight sets at the 2024 US Open. Despite Bu's strong serving performance, particularly in his first-round win, Ruud is predicted to win in three sets, though a closely contested match is anticipated.
