Cardinals QB Battle: Brissett Struggles, Beck Shines

The Arizona Cardinals are intensely focused on their preseason preparations, with upcoming exhibition games set to resolve final roster decisions. Practices are showcasing fierce competition for both roster spots and starting positions across various units. Rookie quarterback Carson Beck has consistently impressed coaches and fans with his accuracy and command, notably executing a no-look touchdown pass during a two-minute drill. While veteran Jacoby Brissett is the leading candidate for the starting role, he has faced challenges with deep ball accuracy during recent drills.

Gardner Minshew has demonstrated consistency with intermediate throws and appears comfortable running the offense, positioning him as the likely QB2. At running back, Tyler Allgeier is emerging as the starter, with rookie Jeremiyah Love as his backup, though Love's receiving abilities are noted as a key asset. The wide receiver corps is particularly deep, presenting difficult roster decisions for the coaching staff, with players like rookie Reggie Virgil, Jaylen Brooks, and Ihmir Smith-Marsette showing significant promise.

Concerns persist regarding the offensive line's performance, which has been characterized by a lack of cohesion and a high number of pre-snap penalties. Despite individual players like Isaiah Adams and Elijah Wilkinson showing potential, the unit as a whole struggles to function as a complete group. On the defensive side, Darius Robinson has been a standout performer at defensive end, exceeding expectations with his pass-rushing abilities. Several other defensive players are also making strong impressions, further solidifying the team's defensive depth.
