Former Cardiff City skipper Sean Morrison has lauded manager Brian Barry-Murphy for his effective stewardship of the club's academy talent. Morrison highlighted the consistent integration of young players into the first team, noting that many academy talents have made their debuts this past season.
Barry-Murphy, who took charge in the summer, has successfully guided the Bluebirds back to the Championship. The team secured the second automatic promotion spot with an impressive record of 25 wins and only eight losses in League One.
Morrison expressed his satisfaction with the clear and positive pathway now available for academy prospects to break into the senior squad. He believes this focus on homegrown talent is a significant positive for any club and is a structure Barry-Murphy has built to last.
With promotion secured, the club's attention will now turn to strengthening the squad for the upcoming Championship season. However, the existing foundation of academy players may reduce the immediate need for extensive rebuilding.
