- Kevin Bieksa criticizes Oilers' lack of fight after 9-1 loss to Avalanche

On November 13, 2025, former Vancouver Canucks defenseman Kevin Bieksa shared a humorous Instagram story that sparked a wave of nostalgia among hockey fans. The post featured a side-by-side collage comparing Bieksa's physical playing style during his prime with the Canucks to a similar heated on-ice scrap by his son, Cole Bieksa, during a recent junior game.
The younger Bieksa, born in 2007, is set to join the Coquitlam Express for the 2025-26 BCHL season. The team's general manager, Tali Campbell, praised Cole's development, noting his impressive production and maturity on the ice. In a breakout campaign, Cole had put up 73 points in 55 games with Fairmont Prep in California, drawing increasing attention across junior hockey circles.
Just days before, Kevin Bieksa, who is currently an analyst on Hockey Night in Canada, did not hold back in his criticism of the Edmonton Oilers following their humiliating 9-1 home loss to the Colorado Avalanche. Bieksa questioned the players' lack of fight and engagement in the dying minutes of the rout, which tied the largest margin of defeat in Oilers franchise history.
"If I was a fan and I went to that game and my team lost 9-1 wouldn't you want to see some fighting or some confrontations at the end?" Bieksa asked on the broadcast. "I'd wanna see something."
