Canadiens Eyeing Trade: Dach to Oilers for Howard?
7 Oct
Summary
- Demidov sidelined for two to four weeks due to injury.
- Trade proposal sends Dach to Oilers for Isaac Howard.
- Isaac Howard could take Dach's spot on second line.
The Montreal Canadiens are navigating several roster shifts. Ivan Demidov has been sidelined with an injury that will keep him out of play for an estimated two to four weeks.
Amidst ongoing trade speculation, a proposal suggests moving Kirby Dach to the Edmonton Oilers. This potential trade would see the Canadiens receive forward Isaac Howard, Quinn Hutson, and a 2028 third-round draft pick in exchange for Dach and a 2028 second-round pick, with 50 percent salary retention.
This proposed deal could provide Isaac Howard with a fresh start and a more significant role. The 22-year-old forward, acquired by the Canadiens, has shown offensive promise but has been underutilized. He could potentially fill Dach's vacancy on the second line under coach Martin St. Louis.
For the Oilers, acquiring Dach would reunite him with his brother Colton. Dach, a center, has struggled to meet expectations but possesses considerable upside. This trade is seen as potentially beneficial for both franchises, addressing team needs and alleviating trade noise.
