In the ongoing 2025 World Swimming Championships in Singapore, Canadian swimmer Summer McIntosh has solidified her status as a rising star, winning her third gold medal of the event. Last month, the 18-year-old dominated the women's 200m butterfly, clocking a time of 2:01.99 - the second-fastest ever in the event and a new Canadian record. McIntosh finished a full three seconds ahead of American Regan Smith, who took silver.
Elsewhere, French swimmer Leon Marchand continued his impressive form, winning the men's 200m individual medley. Marchand had set a new world record in the event during the semifinals, but in the final, he fell just short of that mark, finishing in 1:53.68 - still faster than the previous world record. American Shane Casas took the silver medal with the third-fastest time ever by a U.S. male swimmer in the 200m IM.
The championships also saw a stunning performance from Romania's David Popovici, who swam the second-fastest 100m freestyle in history, clocking 46.51 seconds. American Jack Alexy won the silver medal in the event.
