- Caitlin Clark to miss rest of 2025 season due to right groin injury

- Fever currently in 8th place, 1.5 games ahead of Los Angeles with 3 games left

In a major blow to the Indiana Fever's playoff hopes, star player Caitlin Clark will miss the rest of the 2025 WNBA season due to a right groin injury. Clark, the 2024 Rookie of the Year, sustained the injury late in a July 15 game against the Connecticut Sun and later suffered a bone bruise.
Despite working tirelessly to recover and return to the court, Clark acknowledged that "time is not on our side" and that her long-term health remains the top priority. The Fever currently sit in 8th place in the standings, just 1.5 games ahead of the Los Angeles Sparks with three games left to play.
"I had hoped to share a better update, but I will not be returning to play this season," Clark said in a statement. "I am so proud of how this team has only gotten stronger through adversity this year. Now it's time to close out the season and claim our spot in the playoffs."
Fever COO and GM Amber Cox expressed disappointment but emphasized the need to prioritize Clark's recovery, stating, "While we will continue working with Caitlin and provide her with every resource we have available, there is not enough time left in our season for her to safely return, and her long-term health and well-being remains our top priority."
