On September 9th, 2025, the Chicago Bulls have reached a significant agreement with their young point guard Josh Giddey, securing him on a 4-year, $100 million contract. The 22-year-old Australian entered restricted free agency this offseason seeking a deal worth around $30 million per season, while the Bulls' initial offer was 4 years, $80 million. After extensive negotiations, the two sides settled on the lucrative long-term pact.
Giddey, who was acquired by the Bulls from the Oklahoma City Thunder in June 2024, delivered a breakout campaign during his first year in Chicago. He showcased his well-rounded skills, posting several career-best numbers across the board. Giddey appeared in 70 games, averaging 14.6 points, 8.1 rebounds, 7.2 assists and 1.2 steals per game. He also improved his three-point shooting, converting at a career-high 37.8% clip.
With this new contract, Giddey becomes the Bulls' highest-paid player, which will certainly come with increased expectations. However, the team is counting on the former 6th overall pick to help lead them back to the playoffs for the first time since the 2021-22 season. Giddey will be a key part of Chicago's ongoing rebuild alongside promising young talents Matas Buzelis and Noa Essengue.
