19 Jan
Summary
- Sean McDermott was fired after nine seasons with the Bills.
- Josh Allen's struggles and turnovers contributed to the firing.
- Joe Brady, Brian Daboll, and Brian Flores are top candidates.
The Buffalo Bills have ended the Sean McDermott era, parting ways with their head coach after nine seasons. McDermott's tenure concluded with an 8-8 playoff record, including a recent overtime divisional loss that sealed his fate. Quarterback Josh Allen's performance, marked by turnovers, played a role in the decision.
The team is now entering a critical search for a new head coach. Among the leading contenders are Joe Brady, the current offensive coordinator who has a strong rapport with Allen, and former Giants coach Brian Daboll, who has prior experience with the Bills. Brian Flores, the Vikings' defensive coordinator, is also considered a strong candidate.
Other potential replacements include Jeff Hafley, Mike LaFleur, and Klint Kubiak, each bringing unique coaching philosophies and experience. The Bills aim to secure a coach who can guide them towards a Super Bowl, leveraging Josh Allen's talent.
