17 Oct
Summary
- Former Buc Fournette believes Jalon Daniels is the team's best current option.
- Baker Mayfield is sidelined due to a thumb injury sustained recently.
- Daniels has led the Buccaneers to an improbable victory against Dallas.
Leonard Fournette, a member of the Buccaneers' Super Bowl-winning team, has voiced a strong opinion regarding the team's quarterback situation. He believes that current backup Jalon Daniels is a better option for the Buccaneers than the injured Baker Mayfield. Fournette's stance comes after Mayfield suffered a significant thumb injury, forcing him out of action.
Daniels, an undrafted rookie, has stepped in after Mayfield's injury. After an initial close loss, he led the Buccaneers to a surprising victory against the Dallas Cowboys on Thursday Night Football. This performance has fueled the debate about who should lead the team.
Despite Mayfield's substantial contract and his desire to return quickly, Fournette argues that the team's recent success with Daniels under center should be prioritized. He suggested keeping Daniels as the starter until the team's quarterback situation is more stable, emphasizing the importance of winning games in the current season.
