Browns Ink Deal with Former Bengals RB Trayveon Williams
4 Aug
Summary
- Browns sign ex-Bengals RB Trayveon Williams
- Williams had 3,500+ yards, 34 TDs in college at Texas A&M
- Browns' RB room hit by offseason issues, Williams adds depth

In a move to bolster their offense ahead of the upcoming season, the Cleveland Browns have reportedly signed former Cincinnati Bengals running back Trayveon Williams. The 27-year-old Williams was selected in the sixth round of the 2019 NFL Draft by the Bengals after a successful college career at Texas A&M, where he rushed for over 3,500 yards and 34 touchdowns.
Despite his impressive college production, Williams has been stuck in a crowded Cincinnati backfield for the majority of his professional career. In his six seasons in the NFL, he has tallied 307 rushing yards on 62 carries, with most of his output coming in 2020.
The Browns' decision to sign Williams comes as their running back room has faced its fair share of challenges this offseason. The team did not re-sign veteran rusher Nick Chubb and selected both Quinshon Judkins and Dylan Sampson in the 2025 NFL Draft. However, with Judkins currently dealing with a legal issue, the Browns needed to add more depth at the position before the start of the regular season.
In addition to his offensive contributions, Williams also brings experience in the return game, having accumulated 743 yards on 33 kickoff returns throughout his NFL career. His ability to contribute on both offense and special teams makes him an intriguing signing for the Browns as they look to bolster their roster ahead of the 2025 season.
