Broncos QB Nix Impresses, Cardinals' McBride Shines in Homecoming
14 Aug
Summary
- Broncos QB Bo Nix had his best training camp day
- Cardinals TE Trey McBride, a Colorado native, starred in joint practice
- Coaches to rest starters in upcoming preseason game

On August 15th, 2025, the Broncos and Cardinals held a spirited joint practice in Englewood, Colorado. Broncos quarterback Bo Nix had his best day of training camp, throwing accurately to receivers Courtland Sutton and Devaughn Vele. Meanwhile, Cardinals star tight end Trey McBride, a native of Fort Morgan, Colorado, put on a display for his friends and family, repeatedly getting open against the Broncos' defense.
"Me and Kyler had a great connection today," said McBride, who took pride in finding gaps in the highly-touted Broncos defense. Both teams were satisfied with the practice, and Broncos coach Sean Payton revealed that the upcoming preseason game will feature mostly backups, as neither he nor Cardinals coach Jonathan Gannon plan to play their starters, save for a few players who need more work.
Payton explained that the two joint practices this week, including one last week against the 49ers, were sufficient preparation, so he will rest his starters this weekend but have them make appearances in the final preseason game next week. "It was a good workday," McBride said. "The Broncos brought it. We brought it. And most importantly, everyone came out of here pretty healthy."
