The Denver Broncos have secured Robert Livingston as their new defensive passing game coordinator and primary defensive backs coach, according to reports from Wednesday. Livingston, 40, is making a return to the NFL after serving as the defensive coordinator for the Colorado Buffaloes for the past two years.
His nine-season tenure with the Cincinnati Bengals from 2015 to 2023, where he primarily coached the secondary, paved the way for this transition. Livingston also had prior roles with the Bengals as a scout and special teams assistant.
During his time with the Buffaloes under head coach Deion Sanders, Livingston oversaw a remarkable defensive turnaround. In 2024, Colorado's defense surged to 43rd in scoring defense, a significant leap from 121st in the previous year, allowing an average of 23.1 points per game and finishing with a 9-4 record.
ESPN also reported that Colorado's linebackers coach, Chris Marve, will be taking over as the Buffaloes' new defensive coordinator.
