Broncos' Draft Regret: Allen Stars While Chubb Joins Him
12 Mar
Summary
- Broncos passed on Josh Allen in 2018 for Bradley Chubb.
- Allen became a star QB; Chubb was later traded.
- Chubb now joins Allen as a teammate on the Bills.

Fans of the Denver Broncos continue to express regret over the team's decision in the 2018 NFL Draft. At the time, the Broncos needed a quarterback and drew comparisons between their general manager, John Elway, and draft prospect Josh Allen. Allen, who played college football at Wyoming, seemed like a natural fit for the team.
With the fifth overall pick, and after Baker Mayfield and Sam Darnold were selected, Denver opted for North Carolina State's edge rusher, Bradley Chubb. Chubb had a solid career with the Broncos, recording 26 sacks, including 12 as a rookie. Initially, this pick appeared justified.
However, Josh Allen developed into one of the league's premier quarterbacks. Bradley Chubb's tenure with the Broncos concluded in November 2022 when he was traded to the Miami Dolphins. After his release by the Dolphins in February, Chubb has now agreed to a three-year deal with the Buffalo Bills.
This move places Chubb, who was once drafted ahead of Allen, as his teammate on the Bills, a team considered among the AFC's best. The rivalry between the Broncos and Bills is also intensifying, with this development adding another layer to their competitive history.
