Dunk: Brighton's European Qualification is a Monumental Success
25 May
Summary
- Lewis Dunk considers European qualification a testament to club's overachievement.
- Brighton secured a Conference League spot after recent defeats.
- The team faces an earlier start to the new season on August 20th.
Brighton skipper Lewis Dunk has declared the club's European qualification a definitive season of success. He noted that given the club's size, such an achievement is not typically expected, but Brighton consistently overachieves. Dunk highlighted their European qualification as a demonstration of "challenging the establishment."
The recent defeats to Leeds and Manchester United had put their Conference League hopes in jeopardy. However, a crucial late goal in the Liverpool vs. Brentford match secured their place in the competition. This marks Brighton's second European qualification in four years, a significant milestone for the club.
Looking ahead, Brighton will commence their new season slightly earlier than other Premier League teams. They enter the Conference League at the play-off stage, with the first leg scheduled for August 20th. Dunk believes the team has learned valuable lessons from their Europa League run in the 2023-24 season and is ready to compete.
