On October 11, 2025, the Milwaukee Brewers defeated the Chicago Cubs 3-1 in the decisive Game 5 of the National League Division Series, punching their ticket to the National League Championship Series.
The Brewers, who had lost their last five games in which they had a chance to advance in a postseason series, finally broke through. Solo home runs by William Contreras, Andrew Vaughn, and Brice Turang, along with a strong 4-inning outing by rookie pitcher Jacob Misiorowski, led the way for Milwaukee.
Misiorowski gave up a solo home run to Seiya Suzuki on his second pitch of the game, but that was the only run the Cubs could muster off the Brewers' pitching staff. Relievers Chad Patrick and Abner Uribe closed out the game, securing the Brewers' first NLCS appearance since 2018.
The Brewers will now host Game 1 of the NLCS against the defending World Series champion Los Angeles Dodgers on October 12, 2025. Milwaukee swept both regular-season series against the Dodgers this year, outscoring them 31-16 in those matchups.
