Brewers Closer Megill Injured, Uribe Takes Over Saves
28 Aug
Summary
- Brewers lose Trevor Megill to injured list
- Abner Uribe expected to take over saves
- Giants' Randy Rodríguez injured, Ryan Walker steps in

According to the latest Closer Report, the Milwaukee Brewers have suffered a setback as they have placed closer Trevor Megill on the 15-day injured list with a flexor strain in his right arm. With Megill sidelined, the team is expected to turn to Abner Uribe to handle save situations. Uribe has been excellent this season, posting a 1.71 ERA, 1.06 WHIP, and 78/24 K/BB ratio across 63 1/3 innings.
In San Francisco, the Giants have also lost their closer, as Randy Rodríguez was placed on the 15-day injured list with right elbow soreness. This opens the door for Ryan Walker to step back into the closer role. Walker has been impressive in the second half, with a 2.30 ERA over 15 2/3 innings since the All-Star break.
Elsewhere, the Mets' Edwin Díaz has continued to dominate, even in non-save situations. Díaz tossed a scoreless inning with two strikeouts against the Braves on Saturday, then struck out four of the five batters he faced to keep the game tied against the Phillies on Tuesday before falling in line for a win.
