New BC Coach Cleans House, Axes Longtime Broadcasters
4 Aug
Summary
- New head coach dismissed two radio broadcasters after nine years together.
- Broadcasters were informed days before their services were no longer needed.
- The coach cited a desire for a fresh start without past program remnants.

Boston College has parted ways with its two long-serving radio broadcasters, Kevin Collins and Josh Maurer. The pair had collaborated for nine seasons, with Collins having a 13-season tenure overall. The decision to remove them came just days before August 1st, directly from the new head coach, Luke Murray. Murray, who recently served as an assistant at UConn, reportedly sought to eliminate any ties to the previous coaching era.
According to Collins, the new coach expressed a desire for a complete program overhaul, wanting no "remnants of the past." He conveyed that Murray felt uncomfortable being associated with figures from the prior coaching staff. Collins expressed disappointment that Deputy Athletic Director Craig Anderson did not more strongly advocate for him and Maurer before their dismissals.
Despite the unexpected and, in Collins's view, unjust situation, he remains a supporter of the Boston College program. He acknowledged the opportunity for his replacements, recognizing that broadcasting roles for a Power Five ACC program are scarce. Boston College has declined to comment on the matter.
