Chapman, an eight-time All-Star, was sidelined for the Yankees' 2022 divisional series against Cleveland after skipping the required workout. Boone emphasized that while he has a good relationship with Chapman, the decision was made based on the circumstances at the time. Chapman subsequently signed with Kansas City, was traded to the Texas Rangers, and won a World Series title with them in 2023. He is currently playing for the Boston Red Sox in 2025.
