Summary
- Bobby Hurley's 11-year tenure as Arizona State coach ends.
- Contract not renewed after a blowout Big 12 tournament loss.
- Hurley led the Sun Devils to three NCAA Tournament appearances.

Bobby Hurley's time as the head coach of Arizona State men's basketball has officially come to an end after 11 seasons. Arizona State athletic director Graham Rossini announced on Wednesday that Hurley's contract would not be extended. This decision follows the Sun Devils' significant blowout loss to No. 7 Iowa State in the Big 12 tournament. Hurley will remain on paid administrative leave until his contract concludes in June.
During his 11 years at Arizona State, Hurley accumulated a record of 185-167, leaving him as the second-winningest coach in program history. He guided the Sun Devils to the NCAA Tournament three times, including consecutive appearances in 2018-19. Despite these achievements, the team's performance in the most recent season, finishing 12th in the Big 12 with a 7-11 conference record and 17-16 overall, fell short of expectations for contract renewal.
Hurley, a decorated player for Duke, arrived in Tempe with high hopes of revitalizing the program. He achieved notable success early on, leading the team to the NCAA Tournament in his third season and reaching a program-high ranking of No. 3 in the AP Top 25. However, the team struggled with injuries and consistency in later years, leading to decreased fan interest and a challenging home environment, as Hurley himself noted.
