Springer Returns, Blue Jays Designate Jiménez
30 Apr
Summary
- George Springer activated from toe injury, boosting Toronto.
- Eloy Jiménez was designated for assignment by the Blue Jays.
- Springer's return brings key player back for playoff contention.
The Toronto Blue Jays have activated designated hitter George Springer from his toe injury, a significant boost as the team aims to improve its standing. This move necessitated a roster change, leading to the designation of Eloy Jiménez for assignment.
Jiménez, who joined the Blue Jays last summer, saw limited MLB action this season after mostly playing in Triple-A. Despite a .290 batting average in 12 games, his overall performance did not warrant a roster spot alongside Springer, who is considered a vital piece from last year's playoff run.
Springer's return is expected to be instrumental as the Blue Jays contend in their division. The team hopes to maintain its recent winning streak, with Springer being a key factor in their success. The Blue Jays may explore options for Jiménez to remain within the organization.
