Blue Eagles Soar to Top of FDH Premiership!

Blue Eagles concluded the first round of the FDH Bank Premiership in pole position after a hard-fought 2-1 victory against Mighty Wanderers at Nankhaka Stadium. This result propelled the police side to 31 points from 15 matches, placing them one point above FCB Nyasa Big Bullets, who had already completed their first-round fixtures. Mighty Wanderers settled for third place with 29 points, level with Silver Strikers but ahead on goal difference.

Fahard Mcheka opened the scoring for Blue Eagles in the 23rd minute, with Tonic Viyuyi extending their lead seven minutes later. Despite a spirited comeback attempt by Mighty Wanderers in the second half, including a goal from Sama Tangong in the 75th minute, Blue Eagles held on for the win.

Coach Deckleck Msakakuona expressed happiness with the result, calling it a significant morale booster. Conversely, Mighty Wanderers' caretaker coach Macdonald Mtetemera acknowledged defensive lapses that led to the defeat, emphasizing the need for improvement in the second round. The FDH Bank Premiership's second round is scheduled to commence in October, with teams closely positioned across the table.
