Infielder Blaze Jordan, the St. Louis Cardinals' No. 25 prospect, has been selected from Triple-A Memphis and will make his Major League debut on Friday against the Minnesota Twins. Jordan, 23, is in the lineup batting eighth and playing third base. He was acquired from the Boston Red Sox at last season's Trade Deadline.
Jordan has flourished in the Cardinals' system, particularly in Memphis this season. He boasts an impressive slash line of .313/.373/.548 with 11 home runs and 35 RBIs in 57 games. His journey to the majors is notable, having previously been a viral sensation for hitting prodigious home runs at a young age.
In corresponding moves, RHP Chris Roycroft has been recalled from Memphis. However, IF Nolan Gorman and RHP Hunter Dobbins have been optioned to Memphis. To make room on the 40-man roster for Jordan, IF Ramón Urías was transferred to the 60-day injured list.
Nolan Gorman, 26, has struggled offensively this season, batting .194 with seven homers and 26 RBIs, and has recorded 74 strikeouts in 62 games. RHP Hunter Dobbins, 26, was acquired in the trade that sent Willson Contreras to the Red Sox and has posted a 3.63 ERA in four appearances for St. Louis.
