Bills' Pass Rush: Free Agency Targets for 2026
4 Mar
Summary
- Bills aim to bolster pass rush through free agency starting March 11.
- Key targets include Mafe, Franklin-Meyers, Ossai, and Koonce.
- Players' projected contracts range from $7.8M to $12.2M AAV.

To compete with elite AFC teams in 2026, the Buffalo Bills must significantly enhance their pass rush. Free agency, commencing March 11, presents a prime opportunity to acquire disruptive talent for opposing quarterbacks.
Several players are being considered. Mafe, a four-year veteran, recorded a career-low two sacks in 2025 but achieved his best-ever 13.2% quarterback pressure rate. His projected AAV is $12.2 million.
Franklin-Meyers, a former Bronco, offers versatility and a connection with new defensive coordinator Jim Leonhard, having recorded 14.5 sacks over the past two seasons. His projected AAV of $7.8 million makes him a cost-effective option.
Ossai, with five sacks in back-to-back seasons, could elevate his play in the Bills' anticipated 3-4 defensive scheme. He recorded a career-high nine tackles for loss in 2025 and is projected at $9.1 million AAV.
Koonce, familiar with the Western New York area from his college days, recorded a career-high eight sacks in 2023 for the Raiders before a knee injury in 2024. He rebounded with 4.5 sacks in 2025 and has a projected AAV of $9.9 million.
