Ben Hutton is seeking another opportunity in the NHL after signing a professional tryout (PTO) contract with the New York Islanders. The veteran defenseman previously spent five seasons with the Vegas Golden Knights, where he was a member of their 2026 Stanley Cup-winning team. Hutton played seven games during the Golden Knights' championship run in 2026, contributing an assist.
During his final season with Vegas, Hutton achieved a career-high in goal scoring, netting six goals and adding nine assists for 15 points in 55 games. Throughout his NHL career, which began in 2015 with the Vancouver Canucks, Hutton has played 575 games, accumulating 30 goals and 109 assists. He also holds a gold medal from the 2016 IIHF World Championship with Canada. Hutton's PTO does not guarantee a contract, and he will need to impress the Islanders to secure a place on their roster.
