Bears' Thuney Trade Ranked 3rd Best Offseason Move by ESPN

The Chicago Bears were among the most active teams in the 2025 NFL offseason, with general manager Ryan Poles making several key moves to rebuild the roster. However, one transaction stood out as the best of the bunch, according to a new ranking by ESPN.

The Bears' acquisition of veteran guard Joe Thuney was ranked as the third-best offseason move in the entire league. Thuney, who will turn 33 in November, is praised for his exceptional pass blocking abilities, having posted a pass block win rate of at least 98% over the past three seasons.

Despite his age, Thuney is still viewed as one of the top guards in the NFL, and his presence will be crucial in keeping the pocket firm for second-year quarterback Caleb Williams. The Bears surrendered a league-worst 68 sacks in 2024, so Thuney's addition is expected to provide a significant upgrade to the offensive line.
