Summary
- Caleb Williams threw an interception to start 1-on-1 drills
- Williams botched a pitch to RB D'Andre Swift, would have been an easy TD
- Fans express frustration on social media, call Williams a "bum"

As of August 16th, 2025, the Chicago Bears' young quarterback Caleb Williams is facing growing criticism from the team's fanbase following a shaky performance in recent training camp practices.
Just two weeks ago, Bears reporters attending Wednesday's practice shared that Williams had thrown an interception to begin 1-on-1 drills, news that quickly infuriated an already anxious fan base. Williams also botched a pitch to running back D'Andre Swift, a play that reporters said would have resulted in an easy defensive touchdown.
This comes after a rookie season in which Williams flashed potential, completing 62.5% of his passes for 3,541 yards, 20 touchdowns and six interceptions. However, he was sacked a league-high 68 times and averaged just 6.3 yards per attempt, fifth-worst among qualified passers.
Bears fans, who were previously willing to give Williams the benefit of the doubt, now appear to have lost patience. "Caleb Williams is a [expletive] bum and always will be a bum. Bears need a new QB already," one X/Twitter user wrote. Another commented, "Caleb Williams has been a walking red flag since his last year in college. He needs to earn respect and the way he played last year was garbage."
Despite the growing concerns, Bears coach Ben Johnson confirmed that Williams and the team's other starters will see playing time against the Buffalo Bills this Sunday in the second week of the preseason. However, the length of their involvement remains unclear.
