Bears Bet Big on Tight End Loveland in 2025 NFL Draft

In the upcoming 2025 NFL season, the Chicago Bears are poised to make a splash with their first-round draft pick, Michigan tight end Colston Loveland. The Bears, who are coming off a strong offseason that included hiring Ben Johnson as their new head coach, are confident that Loveland can be a key contributor to their offense.

Johnson, who has a history of maximizing tight end talent, has been impressed by Loveland's approach since he joined the team. "I can tell you from the moment he's gotten into the building... I'm just blown away by how he approaches everything," Johnson said. The coach noted that Loveland has been one of the most dedicated players in the building this summer, working hard on his rehabilitation and preparation.

While Loveland may not have been a statistical standout in college, he has shown the ability to make plays when his number was called. In 2023, he posted 45 catches for 649 yards and four touchdowns, averaging an impressive 14.4 yards per catch. Now, with the opportunity to develop under Johnson's guidance and catch passes from last year's No. 1 overall pick, Caleb Williams, the Bears believe Loveland can carve out a significant role in their offense, which also features talented players like Cole Kmet, DJ Moore, and D'Andre Swift.
