BCB Ends 15-Year Partnership with Chief Curator Gamini de Silva

In a significant development, the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has announced that it will be parting ways with its long-serving chief curator, Gamini de Silva, effective from November 2025. Gamini, who has been the BCB's head curator since 2010, was recently given a one-year extension in July 2025. However, the board has now decided to terminate its 15-year association with him.

According to a BCB official, the decision to end the partnership was made after the board determined that it no longer wished to continue with Gamini's services. As per his agreement, the BCB will be required to pay Gamini a two-month salary as compensation for the early termination.

Gamini's relationship with the BCB reportedly became strained following the return of Australian curator Tony Hemmings. It was reported that Hemmings had faced a frosty welcome from Gamini, who had been known to call the shots on pitch matters since his appointment. This apparent clash of personalities is believed to have contributed to the board's decision to part ways with the long-serving curator.

Gamini's tenure has also been marked by criticism over the consistently slow and low surfaces at the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium, both in international and domestic matches. He remains the only curator in BCB's history to have served a single venue for such an extended period, a record that has drawn scrutiny within the board.
