Summary
- Pitcher earned a save in the ninth inning Sunday.
- Allowed one unearned run on two hits with one strikeout.
- Maintained a 3.05 ERA and 1.20 WHIP this season.
In a recent Sunday game against the Mariners, relief pitcher Smith successfully earned his 26th save of the season. He was brought in to protect a two-run lead in the bottom of the ninth inning after his team had scored five runs in the previous frame.
Despite a rocky start that included two consecutive singles and a throwing error by Victor Robles that allowed a run to score, Smith managed to strand two runners. This clutch performance secured the victory for his team. Following a brief period of inconsistency, Smith has regained his form, now holding a 3.05 earned run average and a 1.20 walks plus hits per inning pitched.
