1 Aug
Summary
- MLB Speedway Classic between Braves and Reds to be played on NASCAR track
- MLB has hosted games in unusual venues, including Little League World Series field
- Unique ballparks like Baker Bowl and Polo Grounds had quirky dimensions

In a surprising move, Major League Baseball is set to host a game between the Atlanta Braves and Cincinnati Reds on a field constructed inside NASCAR's Bristol Motor Speedway on August 2nd. This MLB Speedway Classic is the latest in a series of baseball games played in unconventional venues, showcasing the sport's ability to adapt to unique settings.
The MLB Little League Classic, for instance, brings the youthful energy of the Little League World Series together with top-tier professional talent, creating a one-of-a-kind experience for fans. Other historic ballparks, like the Baker Bowl in Philadelphia and the Polo Grounds in New York, were known for their quirky dimensions, with the Baker Bowl's 60-foot outfield wall and the Polo Grounds' cavernous center field of up to 505 feet.
Even more unusual was the presence of a batting cage in the deepest part of center field at Forbes Field in Pittsburgh. And when the Cleveland Browns played at Municipal Stadium, the team's owner Bill Veeck had them play weekday games at the more baseball-friendly League Park to ensure better attendance.
