Will Barton Joins Timberwolves Coaching Staff

Will Barton, an 11-year NBA veteran, has been appointed to a player development role with the Minnesota Timberwolves. This move follows his tenure as an assistant coach for the Timberwolves' G League affiliate, the Iowa Wolves, during the 2025-26 season. Barton also contributed to the team's Summer League coaching staff before receiving this promotion.

Prior to his coaching career, Barton had a notable playing career after being selected 40th overall in the 2012 NBA Draft. He played in 679 regular-season games, averaging 11.2 points, 4.1 rebounds, and 2.7 assists for teams including the Trail Blazers, Nuggets, Wizards, and Raptors. His final NBA season concluded in 2022-23.

After concluding his NBA career, Barton played internationally before transitioning to coaching. His new role reunites him with Timberwolves President of Basketball Operations Tim Connelly, who was an executive in Denver during Barton's time with the Nuggets. Barton aims to leverage his extensive experience to aid the development of the Timberwolves' young talent as the team aims for championship contention.
