Barcelona's Camp Nou Reopening Faces Backlash Over Ticket Costs

On November 22nd, 2025, Barcelona will finally make their long-awaited return to the Camp Nou stadium, almost a year behind the original schedule. The Catalan club was granted permission by the City Council to begin the first phase of the stadium's reopening, allowing them to host their first match back in their home ground.

Barcelona last played at the Camp Nou in May 2023, before the stadium closed for renovations. The club has spent the past 2.5 years primarily playing at the Montjuic stadium, with a few games at the Estadi Johan Cruyff. The Camp Nou's capacity is set to eventually increase to 105,000, but the initial reopening will be with a reduced capacity of 45,400.

However, the return to the iconic stadium has not been met with universal enthusiasm. While season ticket holders and members will have access, the ticket pricing has drawn significant criticism. The cheapest tickets are priced at €199, with the most expensive costing as much as €589, without any VIP experience. Additionally, Athletic Club fans will be entirely barred from attending the match, as the club argues that the current state of renovations does not allow for separate access points and seating for away supporters.
