Summary
- Barcelona in contract termination talks with Oriol Romeu
- Romeu no longer part of Hansi Flick's plans at the club
- Several other players also expected to leave Barcelona this summer

Barcelona are preparing to part ways with veteran midfielder Oriol Romeu this summer, with contract termination talks reportedly already underway. The 33-year-old, who spent the 2022-2023 season on loan at Girona, is no longer part of Hansi Flick's plans at the club, and both sides appear ready to go their separate ways.
Romeu returned to Camp Nou in 2023 after more than a decade away, but his second spell with the club never quite took off. He played 39 games in all competitions last season, mostly under former boss Xavi, but failed to score and registered just one assist. Now back from his loan, Romeu is set to leave Barcelona for free, despite having a year left on his deal.
The Catalan club is said to be negotiating an early contract termination to save the £3 million in wages Romeu was due over the next 12 months. According to reports, the veteran midfielder has "accepted" the decision and is ready to move on. While Barcelona could have waited for a nominal transfer fee, they've chosen to cut ties cleanly and quickly.
Romeu's expected exit may just be the start of a busy summer at Camp Nou. Several other players could also be heading out the door, with Barcelona having already offloaded Ansu Fati, Clement Lenglet, Pablo Torre, Pau Victor, and Alex Valle. The futures of Marc-Andre ter Stegen, Eric Garcia, Andreas Christensen, and Fermin Lopez are also uncertain, as the club looks to reshape its squad.
