AZ Alkmaar's League Struggles Continue Despite Cup Win

AZ Alkmaar, despite successes in cup competitions and Europe, has seen their Eredivisie form falter, now sitting fourth in the league. A recent 1-0 loss to Twente marked their third consecutive league disappointment, a match where Troy Parrott missed a crucial late penalty. However, the team bounced back with a 3-1 KNVB Beker win over PEC Zwolle, highlighted by Sven Mijnans' brace.

Meanwhile, Go Ahead Eagles are also seeking to improve their standing, currently outside the playoff qualification spots. They recently salvaged a point in a 2-2 draw against Utrecht, with late goals from Mathis Suray and Richonell Margaret erasing a two-goal deficit. The visitors, in 10th place with 17 points from 14 games, are eager for an away win.

AZ Alkmaar, with a strong home record of only one loss all season, enters the match as favorites. In contrast, Go Ahead Eagles have struggled recently, with just one win in their last six matches and four consecutive away defeats, suggesting their road woes may continue.
