Reaves Returns: Lakers Get Star Guard Back
4 Feb
Summary
- Austin Reaves returns after a 19-game absence.
- Coach Redick highlights Reaves' All-Star level impact.
- LeBron James notes Reaves' absence hinders team evaluation.
Austin Reaves is slated to return to the Los Angeles Lakers lineup on Tuesday night against Brooklyn. This marks his first appearance since Christmas, following a 19-game absence due to a strained left calf. Reaves is expected to come off the bench and play under restricted minutes, according to coach JJ Redick.
Coach Redick stressed the critical role Reaves plays for the team, describing him as an "All-Star-level player" whose absence has been felt in "every facet of the game." The Lakers have experienced limited availability of their full roster this season, with Reaves himself missing games in December before re-injuring himself on Christmas Day.
LeBron James commented on the difficulty of evaluating the team's potential without Reaves, referring to him as a "big piece of our team." Reaves has been averaging an impressive 26.6 points, 6.3 assists, and 5.2 rebounds when healthy.
