Dillon Aims for Historic Richmond Three-Peat

Austin Dillon is seeking a historic third consecutive victory at Richmond Raceway in the upcoming Cook Out 400. While wins have been challenging in his career, the driver of the No. 3 has found a remarkable pace at the short track.

His crew chief, Richard Boswell, emphasized the importance of "execution" from practice through the race. He noted that while the team knows what works at Richmond, they must continue to improve their car slightly to counter competitors' advancements. "We just have to make minor tweaks to what we have in our baseline and make it a little bit better," Boswell said.

Dillon's previous wins at Richmond have been memorable. In August 2024, he secured a victory through a late-race maneuver that involved contact with leaders Joey Logano and Denny Hamlin, though this win did not count towards playoff eligibility. The following year, in 2025, Dillon achieved a more straightforward win, leading 107 laps.

Currently sitting 27th in the standings, Dillon is out of playoff contention. However, a win at Richmond would provide a significant emotional boost for himself and Richard Childress Racing, marking the team's first Cup Series win since the passing of Kyle Busch last May.
