26 Sep, 2025
Summary
- Alex de Minaur defeats Chinese wildcard in straight sets
- De Minaur bounces back from recent Davis Cup disappointment
- Faces Frenchman Arthur Rinderknech in next round

On September 26th, 2025, Australian tennis player Alex de Minaur has put his recent Davis Cup disappointment behind him by securing a convincing victory in the first round of the ATP Tour's China Open. The third-seeded Australian needed only 88 minutes to defeat Chinese wildcard Yunchaokete Bu 6-4 6-0 in his opening match in Beijing.
After losing one of his two singles matches in Australia's 3-2 defeat to Belgium in Sydney earlier this month, de Minaur has bounced back with an impressive performance. The current world number 8 broke Bu in the fifth game of the opening set and then dominated the second set, firing down five aces and converting three of his five break-point opportunities.
De Minaur will now face Frenchman Arthur Rinderknech, who defeated tour veteran David Goffin 6-4 3-6 6-4, in the second round of the China Open. The Australian will be looking to build on this strong start and make a deep run in the tournament as he continues his quest to climb further up the ATP rankings.
