The Australian national team's fast bowler will be absent from the initial phase of the Indian Premier League (IPL) as a measure for workload management. This decision comes despite not having participated in any matches since January 25. Cricket Australia is being cautious due to his critical role in 20 scheduled Test matches between August 2026 and August 2027.
Consequently, his arrival date and the extent of his availability for the Capitals franchise are currently unknown. The Australian Test captain, Pat Cummins, is expected to be unavailable for the first half of the IPL season. He has not played since mid-December.
