Felix Auger-Aliassime produced a remarkable comeback at the Shanghai Masters, overcoming Camilo Ugo Carabelli with a 4-6, 7-6(1), 7-5 victory to reach the third round. The fourth seed dropped the opening set and trailed 5-2 in the second, but fought back to dominate the tie-break and secure a decisive break late in the deciding set.
Rafael Jodar also advanced to the third round in his Shanghai Masters debut, defeating Thiago Agustin Tirante 4-6, 6-2, 6-3. The young Spaniard, who has risen significantly in the rankings this year, saved all six break points he faced in the final set.
Fifth seed Daniil Medvedev completed the trend of comeback victories, defeating Jan-Lennard Struff 4-6, 6-4, 6-3. Medvedev's win highlighted his strong hard-court record in 2026, aiming for a return to the Nitto ATP Finals.
Auger-Aliassime is currently 14th in the PIF ATP Live Race To Turin and will face either Alejandro Tabilo or Pablo Carreno Busta. Jodar will meet Jiri Lehecka, while Medvedev awaits the winner of Tomas Martin Etcheverry or Dalibor Svrcina.
