- Despite reliability struggles, Aston Martin aims to improve performance for the season start.

Aston Martin's preparations for the upcoming Formula One season have been significantly disrupted by ongoing reliability concerns, particularly with their Honda power units. The team experienced a critical battery-related issue with the Honda power unit on Thursday, impacting Fernando Alonso's time on track. This technical problem has led to a severely restricted run plan for the final day of pre-season testing in Bahrain, with only short stints possible.
Despite these setbacks, the Silverstone-based team has managed to gather a considerable amount of data, according to team director Pedro de la Rosa. While acknowledging they are "on the back foot," both Alonso and de la Rosa expressed faith in the car's chassis, designed by Adrian Newey, and the team's ability to eventually unlock its full performance potential. The season officially commences on March 8th in Australia, leaving Aston Martin with a critical period to address these issues.
